Autorenporträt
Irene was born in Brazil, the second daughter of a Dutch mother and an Indonesian father. She is a Brazilian, Dutch and Australian citizen and got degrees in Veterinary and Biology with a major in Nature Conservation. She speaks Portuguese, Dutch, English and some Spanish. She has been a singer in a rock band, a dancer and an acrobat in a circus. Among other things, she has worked with street children in Brazil; has taken care of research animals in a cancer hospital and baked space cakes for a coffee shop in Amsterdam. She has also been the owner of a natural products shop, an English teacher, a translator, a counselor for Lifeline and has done research in mangroves in Brazil and national parks in Indonesia. In Brazil, she has lived in the capitals and the countryside of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Maranhão in the northeast and Pará in the Amazon, where her sons were born. In Holland, she lived in Amsterdam and Wageningen and in Australia, in country Queensland, Northern New South Wales, Melbourne and finally Cairns in tropical Queensland, where she currently lives with her husband. They own an IT business. Her main interests are natural living and Christianity. She loves animals, cooking and gardening.
