Sweet corn is gaining importance in the star hotels and urban areas for the preparation of special soups, sweets, jams, cream, style paste and other delicious eatables. It is also grown as vegetable to be eaten fresh in some parts of the world. Beside this, it¿s fodder is highly succulent, palatable and digestible. Under Konkan condition, low temperature and lack of irrigation facilities during the post-rainy season are the major constraint for growth and development of rabi sweet corn. When crop is grown at low temperature, there is delayed germination and poor plant stand. However, to exploit the production of rabi, sweet corn, there is urgent need of proper cultivation technology. In konkan region well irrigation is available up to March. Hence sweet corn grown for cob purpose can be very well taken under such conditions. information on efficient and economic use of nitrogen fertilizer, poultry manure and Panchagavya with polythene mulch for sweet corn particularly under lateratic soil is lacking.
