The storage, handling, processing and distribution of hazardous materials is inherent to today's worldwide economies but intrinsically holds the risk of large scale accidents. The chemical industry is well aware of these safety risks and its day-by-day efforts prove this particular industrial sector to be very safety driven. However, safety preventive measures taken in chemical plants can still be tackled more efficiently at the level of the entire chemical cluster. A multi-plant leveled entity composed (at least partially) of safety experts from different companies belonging to the cluster could support striving for enhanced cross-plant safety management. This book suggests a basic approach, developing recommendations and offering concepts and guidance to facilitate the jointly setting up of a cluster safety culture. The book is especially useful for top-management and safety management belonging to chemical corporations.
