A state of emergency floods the town, and all comraderies are abandoned as the citizens fight for their lives. Cell phones become useless, businesses are looted, and homes are destroyed. Some say the creatures mark the end of the world, and others say that the people who remain alive are no better than the creatures that ravage the town, consuming them one by one without motive or care. With the savage creatures closing in on them Ava is tasked with keeping herself and Jay alive while counting on two men with little credibility to aid in their survival. Ava must navigate cooperating with Roy, her high school crush who has now turned into the leader of a band of misfits that live on the edge of town; and Hayden, a police officer with a dark and questionable past. Together, they fight their way through the chaos ensuing around them, while Ava avoids becoming too attached to either man. Ava and Jay must use their mental prowess and family bond to stay alive under desperate circumstances where friends can quickly become enemies, and it is not only the dangerous creatures that are guilty of murder. Just when Ava believes she has a handle on the situation she must look inward at herself, and trust in those around her to escape town in an attempt to save them all from joining the steadily rising body count.
