This work will hopefully contribute to sensitizing institutions of higher learning, as well as stakeholders concerned, about the urgent need to structure programs for the subject Creative Arts education, to ensure a rich and meaningful arts experience to pre-service teachers. Furthermore, this work aims at facilitating a better understanding of the purpose, focus, and content of the Creative Arts disciplines, as well as the specific role of Creative Arts lecturers educating the students in this field in order to align teacher education with the requirements of the school curriculum, which will in the end result in educating an Arts sensitive school population. The research that led to this book was rewarded academic honorary colours by the examiners thereof, namely an international examiner from Griffith University (Australia), and two external national examiners (one from the University of Johannesburg, Johannesburg, South Africa, and one from the North West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa - now working as a private educationist).

Dennis Beukes holds a longstanding involvement in pre-service teacher education. As lecturer at the University of Pretoria, he noticed the flaws in teacher training for Creative Arts. This book reveal the multiple range of factors influencing the successful training of pre-service teachers for Arts education.
