By integrating stage-specific gene profiles, fiber developmental stages, and developmentally regulated quantitative trait loci (drQTL), I proposed a developmental model connecting gene expression profiles and fiber traits. The model identifies the major genes and metabolic process underpinning the main fiber quality traits.
