Scan-guided trans-thoracic biopsy (STB) is a key examination for the exploration of thoracic lesions, particularly in tumor pathology. Determining the cost-effectiveness and understanding the true costs of this procedure are necessary to make informed decisions in cost-effectiveness analyses. Despite continuous innovation in radiology and a wealth of scientific research, few studies have been carried out to assess the impact of radiology practices on the cost of medical care.The aim of this work was to estimate the cost of scanno-guided trans-thoracic biopsy and determine its efficiency.From August to December 2018, 65 TTPs were studied in 61 consecutive patients. Variable costs included consumables and staff salaries. Costs were identified using an hourly rate reflecting labor costs. Consumables costs were calculated. Direct fixed costs included scanner purchase, depreciation, maintenance and repair costs.
