The Yopougon Hospital and University Centre is an important institution at the heart of the Ivorian health system. This establishment is faced with a problem of management of its biomedical waste. Our study aims to establish an inventory of the solid biomedical waste management at the Yopougon Hospital and University Centre and to propose a management plan that complies with standards in order to minimise risks to the health of the population and environmental nuisances. A diagnosis was made through a field visit, interviews and a questionnaire administered to 133 health stakeholders. The results of the study revealed that many texts on biomedical waste management have been adopted and ratified by the State of Côte d'Ivoire. However, the management system seems inadequate at all stages from sorting to disposal. Shortcomings in the organization, financial resources and training of health workers and support staff have been noted. Similarly, equipment for waste management is insufficient and inadequate.
