The book covers the efforts of government and non-governmental organizations in Nigeria in educating women and children. Since education has been adopted by the Nigerian government as an instrument par excellence for national development, the author then suggests how best practices in women and children education could be achieved through proper monitoring of schools and by developing workable policies. Education should be for all round development the head, the hand and the heart - therefore, more efforts should be geared towards technical and vocational education. To give more opportunities to indigent children, the Home Grown School Feeding and Health Programme is a necessity if the government is sincere at attaining the global Education For All (EFA) goals.

Dr Grace O. Akanbi obtained her PhD from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Her researches focus on History and Policy of Education and Gender Education. She is a member of International Standing Conference for the History of Education and a Fellow, History of Education Society of Nigeria. She has articles in reputable international journals.
