This work deals with the lateral containment of reinforced concrete columns subjected beyond the ultimate axial compressive load. First, the descriptive aspect on containment is illustrated, as well as the factors affecting column containment. A summary of some works carried out on confined concrete columns of different strengths will be presented. In addition, the description of the mechanism and the lateral containment pressure will be detailed. Then, the performance of different existing containment models will be studied. As a result, new models of maximum strength and corresponding axial…mehr

Produktbeschreibung
This work deals with the lateral containment of reinforced concrete columns subjected beyond the ultimate axial compressive load. First, the descriptive aspect on containment is illustrated, as well as the factors affecting column containment. A summary of some works carried out on confined concrete columns of different strengths will be presented. In addition, the description of the mechanism and the lateral containment pressure will be detailed. Then, the performance of different existing containment models will be studied. As a result, new models of maximum strength and corresponding axial deformation have been developed for high-strength concrete. The analysis of the performance of this proposal has shown the importance of these proposals compared to the other selected models. Finally, the validation of these proposed models showed a good agreement with the experimental results, having used ultra high-strength concretes. This book is aimed at engineers and students of earthquake engineering. It is written in a very simple style that allows the understanding of containment.
