Produktbeschreibung
This book provides current knowledge on fermentative hydrogen production and biowaste management to readers to ameliorate the side effects associated with fossil fuel utilization. Biohydrogen production through anaerobic fermentation process has been recognized as an environmentally-friendly and less energy intensive technique that could significantly contribute in the future green and emission free globe. Though, fermentation techniques have been practiced on commercial levels for decades in most of the world, fermentative hydrogen production is still limited to lab scale due to the low hydrogen yield from the process. Research efforts have therefore been intensified to find ways for improving hydrogen yields from fermentation of diverse organic substrates. The results from this research are significant in the area of physico-chemical parameter optimization and minimizing the effects of substrate and product inhibitions on the fermentative hydrogen production, thereby, enhancingthe yield of the efficient energy carrier. The studies provide insights into the integration of dark and photo-fermentation by two-stage process as to move towards complete substrate conversion.
