"Leonel Gonzalez" was a founding member of the FMLN as a key leader of the iberation front formed in 1980, inspired by the Sandinista victory in Nicaragua in 1979. He played a leading role in the peace negotiations that led to the 1992 accords. He heads the FMLN parliamentary caucus and was elected Vice-President in March 2009.
