Despite early promising developments, modeling this communication through computer systems has raised serious challenges that can undermine care providers safe practice if they are not addressed appropriately. This book evaluates the dynamics between healthcare communication and computerization. The focus is on the interactions that lead to communication problem and error, or predispose care providers to err in their practices. The author evaluated several IT projects implemented to improve healthcare communication within and between healthcare organizations. Important challenges for safe IT design and application are recognized and solutions are proposed.
Autorenporträt
MD., MSc., PhD., is a Medical Doctor specialized in Medical/Health Informatics. Currently, he is a Postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Health Policy and Management, Erasmus University Medical Center,Rotterdam, The Netherlands. His research focus is patient safety, communication, and workflow concerns in IT design and implementation.
