Computer-based simulation is a proper and powerful method for research in botany and ecology. The reason for the infrequent use of the method in those fields is possibly a lack of cooperation between simulation experienced scientist from the area of computer science and botanists. This book describes the development of a cellular automata model for grasslands in New Zealand. The documentation of the implementation is detailed enough to use it as an orientation for new developments of grassland models.
