Cancer is a term that encompasses a complex group of more than 100 different types of diseases associated with uncontrolled cell division. Epigenetic events are alterations in gene expression without changes in DNA sequence and characteristic of heritability via cell division. Certainly, it is anticipated that aberrant changes bring about epigenetic control through chromatin modifying enzymes. This has an important bearing on future therapies for human diseases including cancer.
