Over the course of his academic career, the author of this book has assisted dozens of students with their Master s theses and doctoral dissertations and found that there were certain conceptual issues and structural challenges that many of these students shared. The author shares his experience and expertise to assist University students in cultivating an ability to conceive, develop, write, and present a research-based dissertation (or thesis). This book provides a blueprint that guides the student to develop and design a dissertation based on a five-chapter format. Each of the five chapters is introduced, dissected, and discussed in a step-by-step fashion. While the book is applicable to a wider audience and deliberately kept broad in purpose and scope, it is primarily written with a social science student in mind.
