The study was conducted in Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria. The study analyzed and compared artisanal fish production in oil and non-oil producing areas in Akwa Ibom state. Specifically the study: (1) examined and compared the relationship between social-economic characteristics of the respondents in oil and non-oil producing communities, (11) ascertained and compared the social-economic of the respondents and output of fish production in oil and non-oil producing areas, (111) ascertained and compared the allocative efficiency of common resources in fish production in oil and non-oil producing communities, (1v) compared the profitability of fish production in oil and non-oil producing areas, (v) identify and compared constraints and factors that influences fish production in oil and non-oil producing communities, and (v1) made useful recommendations based on the findings. Multi - stage sampling technique was used in the selection of respondents.
