The purpose of compiling this volume is to present an exploratory-interventional study covering three counties in Transylvania, taking stock of the initial situation - attitudes and smoking behavior of adolescents regarding smoking, - put a new perspective on prevention - focusing on local issues, placed on local mentality and resources. The research was possible due to the US staff of Davidson College, who offered support from the Fogarty Foundation, to the Department of Public Health of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Târgu Mures to develop a five-year study on different aspects of smoking in Transylvania - the research package was later adopted and considered worthy of support. Research topic: Building Capacity for Tobacco Research in Romania. The project contains seven sub-themes, and one of these (Community-Based Prevention and Cessation of Tobacco Use among Young Adolescents) was orgyearzed by the research team whose members are the authors of this volume. The researchers are lecturers from four Transylvanian universities.
