Communication protocols in-vehicle networking is a method for transferring data among distributed Modules via a serial data bus or by mean of wireless. The classification of communication protocols was introduced in this seminar report are LIN, CAN, J1850, TTP/C, FlexRay, MOST, IDB1394, etc. There was a study on character and performance of various protocols which is widely used in automotive industry and automation. A comparative study of these protocols was explained considering communication requirement. Seminar report also discuss the use of various protocols as per requirement in automation. The first part give an overview of different communication systems used in automotive applications. Chapter 3 creates a background by explaining the progress of communication systems from its inception to the present scenario. Chapter 4 gives introduction to various protocols and their classifications. Chapter 5 explains brief idea of application of communication protocols in-car embedded networks. At the last of this report future scope of communication protocols in automotive industry has been discussed.
