This book is based on a research carried out among hearing disabled people in Sri Lanka, with the intention of exploring methods to overcome communication barriers between them and healthcare professionals. As a novel method, pictorial labels were developed using pictograms to convey instructions on several basic drug regimens and their comprehensibility was validated among hearing disabled persons.

Ms. Prathibha Desman is a B. Sc (Pharmacy) graduate from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and works in the same university as a demonstrator.Dr. Chamari Weeraratne is a Specialist Physician and a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
