Kumari Fonskea obteve o seu doutoramento em Biologia Molecular de Plantas na Universidade de Durham, no Reino Unido, em 2011; é atualmente Professora Catedrática no Departamento de Ciência das Culturas, Faculdade de Agricultura, Universidade de Ruhuna, Sri Lanka. Tem quase 16 anos de experiência no ensino e na investigação em Horticultura e Cultura de Tecidos.
