In the sixth paper, E. O. Willis gives emphasis to the need for natural corridors in order to maintain animal movements and biodiversity. The last 2 papers were already published in 1982 in Portuguese but the manuscripts were mixed up and so that made it very difficult to understand them. Thus, we present here an English version of them.

Y. Oniki obtained her Master¿s degree in 1970 at the University of Kansas, USA, and in the same year married Edwin O. Willis, a North American expert on antbirds and woodcreepers. They then, studied birds in the Amazonian forests. She obtained her Doctor¿s degree at the University of Campinas, Brazil in 1987. She has published over 165 papers.
