The interest in the complex relationship among the cognitive functions and health states is being fueled by energetic and innovative research efforts in several fields including psychology. The interest in this relationship lies behind a continuing debate among researchers about their health connection. The relationship between health linked positive states and cognition has been considered as bidirectional. This linkage may provide the mechanism to buffer the effect of life-threatening challenges especially in the context of health and illness. The present research revealed that dimensions of positive health states and cognitive functioning were related with each other. Cognitive functioning was found to contribute to positive health states where dimensions of executive functions were stronger predictors as compared to inhibitory processes.
