An educator whose forty-year career began by teaching young children to read, Jan retired in 2014 in her hometown Anniston, Alabama. The quietude of country living developed a creative outlet in writing children's stories. Collaborating with daughter Jennifer, the Cleo and Olive book series was born. Jan is married to high school sweetheart, Glenn Hurd, and she is the proud mother and grandmother of three children and five grandchildren. She is lucky to have been chosen as Olive's Keeper.
