The publication "Stary Oskol during the Great Patriotic War (the economic life of the city and military operations on the territory of Oskol in 1941-1943)" is a monograph and dedicated to a comprehensive study of the history of Stary Oskol during the Great Patriotic War. The author analyzes the economic life of the town and district in the initial period of the war, preceding the occupation of the town. On the basis of previously unpublished documents the researchers draw conclusions about the functioning of industry and agricultural sector of the economy of Starooskolsk district in 1941-1942, identify the causes of lag in the implementation of military-industrial plans in the late 1941 - early 1942. The article analyzes the work of party and Soviet organs of Kursk region on the organization of industrial enterprises, kolkhozes and sovkhozes, social infrastructure, building of defense installations on the eve of German occupation, as well as on antiepidemic measures, the reception and accommodation of evacuated civilians and refugees.
