Drafted and decorated combat infantryman, Michael Whalen, is a Vietnam War veteran. Proudly serving his country, Whalen also spent many days in Cambodia. Both friends and family alike encouraged him to write down the good and bad experiences he paid witness to during the war. This book and sharing his story helped Whalen recover from the losses of those dear to him, some just out of high school, who gave their lives fighting for their country in a faraway land. After the war, Michael returned home to a job of teaching and coaching and is now a retired Elementary Principal and Coach. Alongside his wife, three daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, he resides in the small community where he was raised. His spare time consists of summer gardening, bass tournament fishing, and enjoying life.
