The present research results from our readings, informal reflections, debates in the media and our perception of comments from society in general, about knowing how to read or the failure to learn how to read in Mozambique, mainly in Primary Education. The center of analysis is the fact that it seems to us that children demonstrate poor basic reading and writing competence after completing Grade 7.
