An important way to fight against the new borne diseases is by developing new medicines and finding medicinal sources. Hexagonia tenuis (Hook.) Fr., is a least explored and potential bracket fungus. Chemical profiling of H. tenuis revealed the presence of 37 compounds. Few of these were with anti tumor and anti oxidant properties. Because of the presence of number of bioactive components, cytotoxic studies were also carried out and it resulted in a wide spectrum of chromosomal abnormalities. Aneesh S., has completed Post Graduation,  B.Ed  and M.Phil in Botany. Presently pursuing PhD under the guidance of Dr John E. Thoppil (Prof., Cell and Molecular Biology division, Department of Botany, University of Calicut). He is interested in the area of exploring bioactivities of bracket fungi. He has got three best paper presentation awards.
