Autorenporträt
Arunthathy is a Tamilian, born in Navanthurai, Jaffna. Having a knack for writing since a very young age, he pursued his passion by writing various plays for his local community events. Although a teacher by profession in his country, his heart was with the plays and stage shows in which he eagerly participated. A few of them are Sevvanam, Muththazhagi, Vetriyai Nalai Sarithiram Sollum. The last one was inspired by the rising war tensions in his motherland. Having to forsake his motherland due to the war, he travelled to France, where he still pursued his passion and went on to write various other plays, namely Parinamam, Vyabagam, Karuthukol, Innoru Manithan and Poi. Not only limited to plays, the author has written various Villuppaattu titled Needhipathiyaga Kutravaligal, Pengal Deivangal Alla and anthologies, namely Samadhanathin Pagaivargal, Irandavadhu Pirappu and Kadal. Apart from the literary works, the author has also written and directed a film called Mugam in 1996. Another work of his is the autobiographical novel Aanpal Ulagu, which has been translated into English as Charring Flames and Enchanting Smiles.
