SHIRLEY RUSSAK WACHTEL is the author of Zoey and the Purple Elephant, What Would I Be, The Eight Days of Hanukkah, and an interactive detective series for young readers. She is also the author of the acclaimed My Mother's Shoes, The Music Makers, and other novels. Shirley is a professor of English at a college in central New Jersey where she lives with her husband, Arthur. She is the mother of three grown sons, and has two granddaughters, including the delightful Emmy, who can usually be found next to her big sister, Zoey.
