They are more common in men than in women and affect subjects with an average age of 58.2 years. They are associated with high blood pressure (74.3%) and alcohol consumption (21.4%). Motor deficits are more frequent (97.4%), in particular hemiplegia (65.8%). Sensory disorders (46.1%), hemiballism (0.85%) and cognitive disorders (9.4%) were observed. The lacunae were isolated in 4.5%, associated with cerebral haemorrhage (25.7%) or leukoaraiosis (68.1%). They were capsular in 83.3% with a mean size of 12.57mm. Isolated haemorrhages (52.2%) were deep (80.6%) with an average size of 39.47mm. Leukoaraiosis was frequent in 41.88% and associated with lacunae (91.83%). Microangiopathies were frequent.

Martin LANKOANDE, born on 30 November 1984 in Thion (Burkina Faso). He was admitted to school in 1991 and obtained his baccalaureate in 2004. First Prize for Excellence in the National Olympics 2004, he was enrolled in medicine and became a hospital intern in 2011, a doctor in 2012 and an anaesthetist in 2017. He is the author of 16 scientific publications.
