Courtney nació y creció en New Orleans. Cuando pequeña quería ser veterinaria hasta que el Huracán Katrina cambió el curso de su vida. Después de asistir a numerosos campamentos de ingeniería y matemáticas se mudó de Louisiana a Dallas, Texas, para estudiar ingeniería civil y matemáticas en Southern Methodist University (SMU). Trabajó en administración de proyectos de infraestructura a gran escala en lugares como el aeropuerto internacional de Dallas Fort Worth y el aeropuerto de Love Field, autopistas y trabajos en municipios locales. Courtney hizo una maestría en ingeniería civil con concentración en estructuras en SMU y se graduó de su MBA en Lamar University, Beaumont, TX. Tiene una licencia de ingeniera profesional en el estado de Texas. After attending numerous engineering and math camps in high school, Courtney left Louisiana to pursue degrees in civil engineering and math at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas. She began a career in management of heavy civil infrastructure construction projects and went on to obtain a master's degree in civil engineering with a concentration in structures from SMU and an MBA from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. She is also a licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas. Courtney serves on the board for SOSMC USA, a nonprofit raising funds to renovate three flood-prone buildings on the campus of the Opportunity School for low-income disabled children in Chennai, India.
