A road traffic accident occurs when a vehicle collides with another vehicle, pedestrian, or other obstruction. Such accidents may result in injury, death and property damage. The main objective of this study was to identify major causes that lead to road accidents involving public service vehicles in Nairobi County, Kenya. The study used simple random sampling. The sample size was 384 cases. Primary data was gathered by use of structured questionnaires. The archival method was used to collect secondary data regarding road accidents involving PSVs in Nairobi County from 2011 to 2015. The study concludes that there is a positive and significant relationship between causes of road accidents (human causes, vehicular causes and environmental causes) and the road accidents among PSVs. The study recommends that speed monitoring cameras should be strategically mounted on all routes to detect over-speeding PSVs for appropriate legal action. Secondly, that the government should put in place strict measures to ensure enforcement of laws relating to regular maintenance of vehicles used by the PSVs.
