The science of ecology is broad ranging and difficult to define. Most of us think we know what it means, and indeed it can imply different things to different people. It is best considered as a description of interactions between organisms and their environment, and its basic philosophy is to account for the abundance and distribution of these organisms. In fact, ecology encompasses a whole variety of disciplines, both qualitative and quantitative, whole organism, cellular and molecular, from behavior and physiology, to evolution and interactions within and between populations. Insects have dominated the interest of Zoologists for centuries. There were no published works on the interrelation of butterflies with its abiotic and biotic factors or ecology from Kalaburagi districts, Karnataka. In the present work an attempt was made to study the ecology of butterflies from Uplaon Nature Park, Kalaburagi district. Karnataka, India.
