Larry J. Webb along with his wife Judy, served as missionaries to Bolivia before retirement and continue to serve in Bolivia through what are called "Maverick" Work and Witness Mission Teams. While mission trips have existed for years in the missional church, Larry introduced the concept of "Maverick" mission trips. Instead of bringing a team from a specific local church or geographical district that promises to build a building for the national church to utilize, we focus on building rapport with new people in the neighborhoods of those churches. We do so by sponsoring free medical and dental clinics, children's Vacation Bible School type programs with clowns, puppets, craft projects, and finally, showing the JESUS FILM ... all of it right on the job site. The object is to enable people to become familiar with the site; to feel welcomed and safe on this property; to feel like they "belong" there. Instead of bringing a group of workers led by a skilled project manager, anybody can be a Maverick. Construction skills are not a prerequisite. Ages have run from 3 years old to 95 years old because everyone has a ministry. Give a three-year-old a colorful soccer ball and watch him kick it down the street. By the time he gets to the corner, you probably have enough kids to organize a Vacation Bible School. Larry introduces the foundational truth for "achieving faith" that Maverick Teams have relied upon to experience God's miraculous provision: (1) Vision attracts resources. (2) Sacrifice inspires others to participate. (3) Perseverance gives God time to work in our behalf. Out of the 33 Maverick Mission Trips chronicled in this book came this statement that expresses anticipation in experiencing the miraculous: BUT, Let's See What God Wants to Do!
