Kenneth A. Breisch is a professor in the Department of History and Theory, Southern California Institute of Architecture. He is the author of Henry Hobson Richardson and the Small Public Library in America, and his essays have appeared in several books, including Modern Architecture in America and Fountains.Alison K. Hoagland is associate professor of history and historic preservation at Michigan Technological University. Her most recent book is Army Architecture in the West: Forts Laramie, Bridger, and D. A. Russell, 1849-1912.Breisch and Hoagland are co-editors of Constructing Image, Identity, and Place, also in the Perspectives in Vernacular Architecture series.
