Autorenporträt
Natsume Soseki, geboren 1867 in Tokio, studierte Englische Literatur an der Kaiserlichen Universität Tokio. Nach einem mehrjährigen Aufenthalt in England lehrte er ab 1903 Englische Literatur an der Tokioter Universität. Als er 1916 starb, war er einer der bekanntesten Schriftsteller der Moderne in Japan.
