Ruth Weston is a social entrepreneur, activist, and mother of five. After studying Theology and Church History, she trained in grassroots organising at the Urban Theology Unit in Sheffield. In 1992, as Methodist Chaplain to Students at the University of Bradford and Bradford College, she led national campaigns on student poverty and poor housing.After becoming a mother, Ruth focused on community activism, supporting schools and ex-offenders. Following the birth of her fourth child, she turned to maternity care, transforming a small birth pool hire firm into a leading UK manufacturer. She also founded a birth choices support group that became a national network.Ruth gained media recognition for her advocacy, appearing in Desperate Midwives, other TV programmes, radio interviews, and newspapers. She chaired the stakeholder committee for Bradford and Airedale Maternity, co-founded the Bradford Community Doula Scheme, and championed breastfeeding support.On a national level, she spoke at conferences, led campaigns, and engaged policymakers to improve maternity services. Known for her strategic thinking and fearless advocacy, Ruth's experiences and insights are shared in this book.
