Binding theory and Fulfulde Nominal Phrases is an extract from the author's Ph.D thesis. It discusses interpretive relations between nominal phrases in sentences in Adamawa Fulfulde within the framework of Government and Binding theory.Adopting this theory gave room for the modification of the theory as there are some phenomena in Fulfulde that are explained with exceptions within the theory.Binding theory fails to apply to Fulfulde reciprocals and some reflexives because of their nature. This led to the modification of the theory. Modifying the theory means expanding its operational adequacy to accommodate more languages.Fulfulde anaphors are then bound in their Governing Categories without any locality conditions (i.e. C-command conditions and Co-indexation)contrary to the principle of Binding theory.
