Michael Fahey grew up in the Finger Lakes Area of New York State. He did some bicycling as a youth and little as a parent. He did not do any serious cycling until he was ordered to lose weight, and his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. Now he has cycled around the World from Newport, Oregon to Tianjin, China, the length of Africa from Cairo to Cape Town, up the East Coast of Australia and the United States, across South America and up the center of the US.
