Susan Taylor and Terry Hicks, the co-authors of this memoir, are sisters. Susan lives on the West Coast and Terry is from the Midwest. They lost their father when they were in their teens and later found a secret about him that led to extensive research of the families history and piecing together his incredible story through travel to his hometown in North Carolina, newspaper articles, and oral interviews. Their vivid storytelling preserves the rich history and takes every reader back in time.
