Mandrell's debut album Treat Him Right was released in September 1971, which composed of Country Soul songs. It included her 1969 debut single, a cover of Otis Redding's "I've Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now)" and three singles that reached the Top 20 on the Billboard country singles chart: "Playin' Around with Love", "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man", and the title track. In 1971 she partnered with country artist, David Houston for the single, "After Closing Time" and eventually issued the album, A Perfect Match (1972).
