The primary purpose of this research was investigate the extent of availability and use of computer aided instruction in teaching science in selected public colleges in Kenya. Performance in science programmes in public colleges is wanting and inefficiency in teaching seems to be the underlying problem. Computer aided instruction lessons as one of the instructional techniques, have been employed in developed nations in teaching sciences thereby improving performance. The objectives of the study was to establish available computer assisted instruction facilities for teaching science, to find out factors influencing use of computers in teaching sciences, uses of available computers in public colleges and finally to establish the challenges of using computer aided instruction in teaching sciences. The study was based on constructivist learning theory and Romiszowski model of choosing educational media.
