Positive perception, attitudes towards modern contraceptives, contemporary socio-economic changes, and free provision of services may contribute to increased prevalence of contraceptive usage in the community. However, much has to be done to optimize the uptake of freely provided contraceptive. We recommend mass media campaigns and outreach interventions to address rumours and misconceptions in the community as well as provision of youth- friendly service to increase the uptake among this vulnerable group.
