In 2008, again with the DSL Mets, Rodriguez went 4-4 with a 2.62 ERA in 15 games (13 starts), this time striking out 81 batters in 72 innings. He moved stateside in 2009, pitching with the Kingsport Mets and Savannah Sand Gnats and posting a 5-2 record with a 2.74 ERA in 12 starts.
