The rising prevalence of multi-drug resistant Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria and fungi continues to provide momentum for the search and development of novel antimicrobial agents active against these pathogens. In search of new bio-active molecule, the development of hybrid molecules through the combination of different pharmacophores in one frame may lead to compounds with interesting biological properties. The co-administration of the heterocyclic moieties, acting by different mechanisms may have a synergistic effect, resulting in a higher activity than each of the components. In the light of interesting biological activities associated with pyrimidine based pyrazole derivatives, it was considered worthwhile to synthesize some hybrid molecules incorporating both pyrimidine and pyrazole nucleus.
