Produktbeschreibung
Cissus quadrangularis, a perennial climber widely used in traditional medicinal systems of Bangladesh has been reported to possess bone fracture healing, antioxidant, anthelmintic, antihemorrhoidal and analgesic activities. The antibacterial potency of petroleum sprit, methanol, ethylacetate, dichloromethane and water extracts of Cissus quadrangularis stem has been revealed against four pathogenic and three industrial waste watered bacteria by disc diffusion assay. Among the five extracts ethyl acetate showed maximum zone of inhibition against Xanthomonas campestris and industrial waste watered bacteria. Methanol and aqueous extracts showed moderate sensitivity against Xanthomonas campestris and industrial waste watered bacteria whereas petroleum sprit and dichloromethane extracts showed resistance against test pathogenic bacteria. The minimum inhibitory concentrations of ethylacetate, methanol and aqueous extracts were found to be ranged between 256-1024 µgml-1. The results claim that Cissus quadrangularis stem can be considered as a potential candidate for future development of novel antibacterial herbal formulation.
