Manfred Berg holds the Curt Engelhorn Chair in American History at Heidelberg University. He is the author of Popular Justice: A History of Lynching in America. James R. McGovern (1928--2012) was a professor of history at the University of West Florida and the author of Yankee Family and Emergence of a City in the Modern South: Pensacola, 1900--1945.
