This book is the publication of my master's thesis at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) Asia, Singapore. The thesis work aims at analyzing key intra-logistics automation technologies in the market and developing a simple Microsoft Excel-based tool to help in deciding the best suitable technology for automating an existing operation. The thesis is conducted in association with Pan Asia Logistics Investments (PALI) Pte Ltd, Singapore, and is strongly based on other academic research works and on the market research of some key Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) vendors in the market. The developed tool suggests some key ASRS technologies for pallet and package handling operations by configuring and comparing the technologies with existing manual operations. The user of the tool can also determine the potential savings in terms of operational costs and floor space occupancy.
