Maria José Dias è un'insegnante di scuola secondaria. Dopo aver conseguito un Master in Studi Letterari, ha ottenuto un Dottorato in Letteratura Portoghese presso l'Università di Porto. È entrata a far parte dell'Istituto di Letteratura Comparata Margarida Losa, dove lavora su questioni di confine nel gruppo Inter e Transculturalità.
